The VVGE (Vlaamse Vereniging voor
GastroEnterologie) is the Flemish
Association for Gastro- Enterology. Founded in 1954, its goal is the
promotion of research and knowlegde of the physiology and pathology of the
gastrointestinal organs, and the promotion of the application of that
knowledge in clinical practice. Membership is
open to all physicians with an interest in gastroenterology :
gastroenterologists, specialists in internal medicine, surgeons,
radiologists, pathologists, pediatricians, and others. The VVGE is member of
OMGE, and hosts and organises regional, national and European
gastroenterology-meetings. During the academic year 2003-2004 the VVGE
celebrates its 50th anniversary.
